Before I forget how awesome this weekend was or unable to recall detailed accounts of each superb moment, I believe now would be a good time to sit down and document all the good times which have been had over this weekend. Will begin with Friday evening as work that day was busy as usually and not all that eventful.
Friday Evening:
Upon returning home I performed the usually actions of documenting my budget and just checking various e-mails I missed over the day. I jumped on HoN briefly and was coaxed into a quick game with a friend I play with on occasion. Unfortunately we got roughed up pretty badly and based on time constraints there was no way to squeeze in a redemption game. I had a quick meal of pop-tarts and an ego waffle before heading out to the concert. Right before I got to the car I realized that I did not have any dollar bills on me though lucky there was a Wachovia near by (across the street actually) so that issue was resolved quickly.
Once in the parking not I noticed an individual with a jacket and a bandanna which was unmistakable the good friend which I meet at Magfest which informed me about the concert. I yelled out to him which in turn he turned around and greeted me with a smile. Initially I was so excited to see him I forgot to roll up my window and make sure my car was in the park position. It was definitely great to see him as we exchanged stories of the past several months. This was not the only individual I encountered this evening several of his friend that I also saw at Magfest were in attendance as well. It was quite a wonderful reunion of acquaintances which I could almost consider friends. Unfortunately they live about an hour away so I would be able to hang out with them on a regular basis.
There was much conversation prior to Protomen playing (as they were the 3rd act) as Lailat
Galaxy and Parlour Shakedown were the opening acts. Lialat Galaxy wasn't exactly my cup of team though Parlour Shakedown wasn't too shabby. During this time we spent time inside having random conversations and talking about the location of the concert. Basically it was an old duck pins bowling aisle which they removed some of the lanes and created a pit and a band playing area. The outside location was fairly sketchy but it was much cooler than inside which felt like a mini sauna. After much anticipation Protomen finally set-up and came on to stage.
Something tells me I will be unable to fully express the amount of awesome which occurred over the next 1-1.5 hours. A man with a mask (similar to andross from Star Fox for the SNES {http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4022/4499440822_7c8f74b710.jpg} ) enter the stage and asked the audience if we were ready to defend Richmond, Virginia tonight. The crowded roared with approval, however he was not pleased and asked again. An even more audible noise came from the pit along with a few colossus roars for good measure. This time he was pleased, conclude his speech and the show began.
At least 5-6 songs were played detailing a story as the it transitioned from one song to the next. With any group hearing the band live was just on a completely different level. Through out the night there was much re-reciting of lyrics, fist pumping, headbanging, crowd surfing (twice), pushpit (kind of like a moshpit but with much less punch and kicking), and in rhythm clapping. It was...simply fantastic. After the final song the crowd was not pleased and chanted "We won't go!". The man who asked if we were prepared requested for another colossus roar in which the crowd obligated without question. He responded "God I love that, can't get enough" along those lines and 2-3 more songs were played. Richmond was safe once again and the pit made an exodus towards the entrance/exit.
Proceeding the show I requested a fellow Magfest friend to see if he could rally people to come to my dad's place to play some board games to press the evening forward. I was able to convince 1 additional person before heading back to my dad's place in which games such as Mancala, Zombie Dice, Fluxx, and Choronauts ensued. My urge for board game was quite high and it was definitely a well needed activity. One of the fellows who was with us was a bit bummed that he didn't talk to a certain female to hope that he could spark some sort of social conversations. While he was being a bit hard on himself going out to the garage to keep himself in solitude and 'get over it' I sorta felt the same as there was one person that caught my interest but I choose not to peruse.
The two things which stop me was creating a topic of discussion (as most of my conversations tend to start off a bit random such as 'If you could take two kitchen appliances fuse them together than replace one of your vital organs with it, which two appliances would you choose and what organ would you replace?) and it was more so on an attractiveness level which I hate to go towards that direction as I much prefer to know more about an individual. Its what's floating in there brain liquids that count. None the less after the games we were able to cheer him up which was a plus.
As for myself the rest of the evening consisted of watching some Shoutcast for HoN and biding my time before the sleep cabinet ninjas took me to dreamland. Eventually I did lie to rest on a some what pleasant note.
Saturday:
Overall not a great deal of sleep was gathered that evening as upon falling a sleep at 6 am I woke up at approximately noon. After 2 hours of lying down and goofing off in front of the computer I figured it was about time for me to start my day. After ordering pizza and watching a bit more shoutcast I decided to take a nap (which is extremely rare for me) however woke up a short while later to hear my cell phone vibrating due to a phone call. I ignored it but decided to situate myself and prepare for the b-day party ahead.
Unfortunately I was unable to think of a gift but decided to attend a bit early. I will need to device something for next time when we hang out to present as a gift. Overall the party wasn't too shabby there was a lot of drinking and use of substance which I don't approve of but would never judge an individual for using them. So for the most part I sat down watched South Park, some Jimi Hedricks and Atlas videos for the duration. The most amusing part I must say is there cat which was very energetic and could not stop running around the room at random. It was definitely great to see it flying all over the place. Equally I found out a great deal more about harmonicas then I could have possible imagined.
Once everyone started to become sleepy I departed and roamed for a bit searching for my car, panicked when seeing how low my gas was, ventured to a WaWa and made it home safely. The rest of this morning I've spent updating my blog and venturing various websites. No real plans for tomorrow gonna play it by ear and perhaps read a bit of 1984 so I can go ahead and start on the next book before the end of this month. That's about all for now.
G'nite everyone and hope your weekend is going well thus far!
