New Year Thus Far

I haven't updated in a few days but now I'm back on track sense well... I'm back at a computer I feel comfortable I can blog on without worrying about time limit or any constraints. Going to go ahead and cover the events up to New Years along with the few days following it.

December 30th:

Part of me was contemplative if I should go into the office for the day. But equally I knew a majority of my scripts run better if I was in the office so it seemed like it would be an overall better choice. The only set back was it was just me and my boss in the office so twas a bit odd. The funny part was she actually wanted to leave the office early and wanted me to tag along. The scripts take eons to run along with prior dinner plans I made so just wanted to stick around till 5ish which ended up being about 4:20. Another reason I left early was to check out a bookstore called Borders which I hadn't been there before and wanted to get a reasonable comparison between it and Barnes and Nobles.

Upon entering Borders it kind of had a low key Barnes and Nobles just felt a bit less congested how the aisles were arranged. There was a disappointing part in which I couldn't find any customer assistance, this was the one off Broad St too. None the less still couldn't find the two books which I was looking for. Still working through 1984 (good read imo) so want to be prepared when I wish to pick up another title. Overall though definitely prefer Barnes and Nobles but that could just be a personal bias.

From there meet with a friend at Panera to eat dinner and discuss the days which had passed. Good times were had, I would have continued conversation but already had prior plans to hang out with friends which felt the need to obligate. Overall though it was good to play catch up and look forward to it again in the future.

After dinner went to Chris place and from the start it was alright...mostly watched him play games for a bit varying from Minecraft ,Assassins Creed and other various titles. Twas quite glad to switch it up to Nazi Zombies and other multiplayer base games. We did play CoD BO online but I wasn't all that impressed with it, nothing has really compared sense Golden Eye/Perfect Dark but that's just me. Just feel that if something is released on console and PC I honestly would prefer to have a mouse and keyboard rather then a controller. Golden Eye (original by the way) didn't have the option so feel more comfortable with it.

I did play Dead Space 2 demo which overall gameplay wise and graphics felt about the same so no complaints there. It could be due to my 'scary fps' background (Hexen, Doom, Quake, and etc) but it really was lacking on scare factor. FPS haven't really been the same sense the 'Hallway design' so its a bit expected/predictable when certain things are going to occur. Almost like a flow chart. Equally though it could be that the game could have adapted to complex game design but I sort of doubt that as its hard to use that as an analogy.

Eventually Tyler got home and we got in some rounds of Monopoly Deal before the night was over along with finding a game called Fractal done by the same people who did Audiotorirum. Another fantastic puzzle game however it involves chains reactions this time around. Gave the demo ago and twas wonderful. Equally found out it was its last day on sale (both games for 8 bucks) so both got it in a heartbeat. From there went to bed and tested the waters of sleeping on the floor. The other reason I slept there was it would be much quicker and save me gas to go from there to another friend's place which I would be celebrating New Year's at.

Friday 31st:

Crashing on the floor wasn't too bad Ty and Chris both gave me sheets and there was a camping matt I could use as a cushion ( might grab one of my own). We went to lunch the following day at Penn Station and I picked up some Fries and we went back to play sa more Monopoly and Catan...timing wise I went a bit over which resulted in arriving at Johns a bit later than original anticipated. From there picked up Chris and we went over to John's.

Evening wise the plans were a bit..well unplanned and kind of random. Turned out John also got a deck of cards from his family ( I ended up with Monopoly Deal) which was Uno. Normally I stay away from Uno as its on my 'top 10 list of addicting games I should never touch again' but went along with it. As with any round of Uno we set up some 'house rules' to limit the amount of confusion and began play. This went on for about 2-3 hours before we switched up to Sequence (finally played it) which as much as I read from the reviews was well worth it. It was actually a fresh board completely unopened ready for play as I love the smell of fresh cards, though these cards lacked the fresh smell...kind of odd. None the less broken into teams played a few rounds and concluded the night with Monopoly deal before the host got super sleepy and kicked us out.

Now one might ask where did the whole "Happy New Year" thing come in well we all sayed 'Yahtzee' once it was midnight and took a break to contact people before continuing play in Sequence.

After I got back home played some rounds of HoN with dean which was fantastic because we had one round involving 3 slithers vs 3 engies....poor engies they weren't expecting silly extreme pushing slithers. A few hours later I went off to bed for rest.

Jan 1st:

First day of the New Year and I took it slow. Played a handful of games but that's about it nothing extreme. Finished Sword and Soldiers and started my initially clean up of my steam list. Over the last 2 years its gotten cluttered (along with my facebook list again) so its about time to polish it up. Watched scripts and played a bit more HoN and that was essentially my day. Pretty relaxing and pretty layed back couldn't complain.

As for today once again not a whole lot of plans...will try to go to bed early. Can't wait 2 weeks from now and Magfest so excited.

Anywho gotta get my day started later all!
